SNAP Cymru Green Screen Film

LOCWS Creative Participation Programme 2018

Workshop 7 : SNAP Cymru, 10th – 12th April

LOCWS International reached out to the wonderful childrens chairty; SNAP Cymru to make film number seven on this year’s LOCWS Creative Participation Programme.  Tutor, artist and professional film-maker; David Marchant worked with individuals from SNAP over 3 days at their centre in Swansea to create a unique short film using various film-making techniques including stop-frame animation and filming in front of a green screen!

Keep an eye on our YouTube channel to see the film and join us for a screening of the film in the SwanComm Film Festival on May 26th at The National Waterfront Museum (12-3pm).

During the week, the budding film crew designed and produced props, developed a theme, decided on scenes, filmed, acted and created a sound track for an exciting and unique short film. The group were inspired to use the green screen technique which is a visual effect involving live acting in front of a green coloured back drop, so that you can layer two moving images together once the green colour is edited away. Their fantastic costumes and brilliant energy really come across in the wonderful short film about hobbies, interests and what their futures may hold.

The group of film-makers had lots of lovely ideas, professional artist and film-maker Dave Marchant, gave them the support they needed to turn their ideas into reality. The group were also given the chance to handle advanced technical equipment, to consider the lighting, and gave input on the editing. Participants were encouraged to develop their own ideas from the outset and were guided through the processes during the week, the course was busy and very hands on for the group who worked really well together to create an imaginative and fun film!

The film-makers should be extremely proud of the work they have done, the film is an outstanding achievement and a positive reflection of all their efforts and hard work. LOCWS International look forward to helping them celebrate these achievements at SwanComm Film Festival!
