Paul Granjon has chosen to work with Swansea’s Sail Bridge, a landmark structure that connects the east and west sides of the city. Granjon has collaborated with a local choreographer, Douglas Comley, and a 20-strong company of dancers to create a percussive choreography for the bridge, the dancer’s motions and rhythms ‘playing’ the bridge as if it were a percussive musical instrument.
The various surfaces of the bridge are activated by the dancers equipped with modified rubber mallets and wearing shoes fitted with steel plates. Their choreographed motions explore the acoustic quality of the largely metallic structure, creating a spatial sound-scape that reveals the musicality of the bridge.

The performance is the opening event for Locws International and filmed documentation can be seen within the Locws Information Hub at the National Waterfront Museum.[/lang_en]

Mae Paul Granjon wedi dewis gweithio gyda Hwylbont Abertawe, tirnod sy’n cysylltu dwyrain a gorllewin y ddinas. Mae Granjon wedi gweithio ar y cyd â choreograffydd lleol, Douglas Comley, a chwmni o 20 dawnsiwr i greu coreograffiaeth ergydiol ar gyfer y bont, symudiadau’r dawnswyr a rhythmau’n ‘chwarae’r’ bont fel petai’n offeryn cerddorol ergydiol.

Mae arwynebau amrywiol y bont yn cael eu hysgogi gan y dawnswyr â gyrdd rwber addasedig ac yn gwisgo esgidiau â phlatiau dur. Mae eu symudiadau a goreograffwyd yn archwilio ansawdd acwstig yr adeiledd metel wrth greu sŵn gofodol sy’n datgelu naws gerddorol y bont.

Y perfformiad hwn yw digwyddiad agoriadol Locws Rhyngwladol a gweler dogfennaeth a ffilmiwyd yng nghanolfan wybodaeth Locws Rhyngwladol ac Amgueddfa Genedlaethol y Glannau.

Ganwyd Paul Granjon yn Lyon, Ffrainc, ac mae’n byw ac yn gweithio yng Nghaerdydd, Cymru.

Astudiodd yn École des Beaux-Arts de Marseille, Ffrainc, ac mae wedi arddangos a pherfformio’n rhyngwladol ac yn genedlaethol ers hynny. Yn 2005, cafodd ei ddewis i gynrychioli Cymru yn Arddangosfa Gelf Fenis.
