Volunteer for Locws

We are always looking for new, enthusiastic and friendly volunteers to join our team and help us carry out our public art programme. Volunteering is a great way to gain valuable experience and get involved with what’s going on in the art scene as well as get an insight in to how public art organisation operates. Through volunteering you will also meet likeminded people and build experience and skills in areas such as artwork installation, administration, publicity, invigilation, workshop support and professional development. We offer three different types of exciting volunteering roles at Locws:

Invigilators/ Live Guiding: We look for committed volunteers to invigilate artworks by international contemporary artists. You will be expected to be present at the site, interact with the public to encourage them to engage with the artwork on display as well as ensuring that the visitors do not touch the artwork. You may also be required to assist a member of staff on an Art Across the City guided tour.
Skills required: Reliability and ability to communicate with the public, other team members and talk about art.
Dress code: You will be provided with a Locws top to wear while invigilating.

Administrative Support / Marketing and Promotion: We look for committed volunteers to help us with administrative tasks, marketing and promotion for Art Across The City and other events throughout the year. You will work on social media updates (facebook and twitter) and contribute to Locws blog posts, mail-out invitations and information leaflets as well as distribute the leaflets across various public venues in the Swansea area.

Practical Art Workshop Support: We look for committed volunteers to assist in the running of practical art workshops organised by Locws International.
Skills required: Enthusiasm for the Arts, reliability and ability to communicate with the public, other team members and the artist, basic understanding of art practices. Previous experience of workshop support is desirable but not essential.
