Swansea Track 10
Civic Centre Grounds
The ghost town of Swansea sits on the edge of Death Valley, California. Once a mining boomtown in the 1860s little of the town remains apart from a memorial. The connections with the city go beyond the place name as it is suggested hundreds of Welsh miners made the trip to America and beyond to set up and run mines.
Dolphin has recreated this memorial and placed it outside the Civic Centre, with ramshackle ‘Wild West’ signs made by Swansea schools pointing to other namesakes across the world.
