Rhys Himsworth eloquently takes us on a historical journey that shows us how the Industrial Revolution has affected every aspect of the modern world. Utilizing one of the world’s most dynamic inventions, the Internet, he connects links to navigate Wikipedia in a highly poetic and insightful way.
Starting with the words ‘Industrial Revolution’, his software program displays hyper-links on digital screens and reads them aloud with a computer-generated voice. As all the screens fill, the program navigates to the next page and the next, poetically conveying how the Industrial Revolution can be seen as affecting every aspect of our modern lives. Art Across The City is an exciting public art programme designed and delivered by LOCWS International, an artist-led charity based in the City of Swansea. LOCWS International commissions international and UK-based artists to create new contemporary artworks for accessible public spaces across the city.
A broad range of artworks are produced from sculpture, painting and installation to performance and film and each is inspired by an aspect of the city’s culture, heritage, architecture, people or landscape.
