Cernunnos: The Horned One. History Truly Imagined
Swansea Museum

A museum's role is to preserve elements of our collective history

lwan Bala utilised the collection at Swansea Museum to re-present objects that he sees as stereotypical icons of Wales, saying that "my concern is with mapping the cultural landscape that I was born into. Sometimes archetypal landscape, sometimes artefacts and found objects. Iconic figures, symbols and mythic events are redrawn to make contemporary comment. My inspiration is the belief that culture is a continuum, that tradition is a process in flux and that we who live within it are constantly reinventing and redefining that cultural landscape"
