Blue Funk I
Swansea Castle

Blue Funk II
The Maritime & Industrial Museum

Tim Davies presented two related works which reinstated the subject to the object

In Blue Funk I Davies used blue projected light to shroud Swansea Castle, while in Blue Funk II Swansea Museum's Bofers Gun was veiled in blue organza

Both refered to the slang expression 'blue funk' which means 'abject terror', reminding the viewer of the original social and cultural contexts of the two objects. These re-presentations forced the audience to examine not only the material objects more closely, but also the multifarious discourses surrounding them
