CARWYN EVANS

Carwyn Evans was born in Carmarthen and lives in Cardiff, Wales

Evans's work is concerned principally with issues related to an individual sense of place and cultural experience. Working with mixed media, photography and installation; Evans questions those aspects that are inseparable to language, community and a region's character. Current lines of thought are in visualizing diasporic identity; addressing themes of dislocation, desire and memory

Evans graduated from Cardiff School of Art in 2001 and has exhibited across the UK and internationally including recent projects in Austria and Mexico

Recent exhibitions include 2006: 'Club Shepway Annual Seaside Review', B&B Project Space, Folkestone, UK;
'Undercover' & 'Surface', Oriel Davies Gallery, Newtown, Wales; 'Rhwng a Rhagddo // Without and Within', Kunstverein Baden Galerie, Baden, Austria (Solo exhibition and collaboration with Wanda Zyborska). 2005: 'On Leaving & Arriving', g39, Cardiff, Wales; 'Identidades & Water' Exhibition & Residency, Morelia, Mexico; 'Yr Wyddor', Oriel Canfas, Cardiff, Wales. 2004: ‘Brawdoliaeth/Brotherhood’, Haverfordwest Library, Pembrokeshire, Wales; 'Ar y Maes', Cywaith Cymru Comission, National Eisteddfod of Wales, Newport. 2003: 'Y Ffwrwm', Conference, Theatr Felinfach, Ceredigion, Wales; National Eisteddfod of Wales, Meifod (Ifor Davies Award recipient)
