REBECCA GOULD

Rebecca Gould was born in Inverness, Scotland and has lived most of her life in Wales. She currently lives in London

Gould's practice has a grotesquely nostalgic presence, having a Disney-like depiction of innocence, which allows more disturbing elements such as withdrawal and isolation to be amplified. The physicality that film doesn’t have is brought to life by coupling with sculptural objects. Film and sculpture share and reciprocate, creating something that has moved beyond the object as a sculptural form. A sense of fantasy and fun combines with the notion of theatricality.
Her work has a transformative quality to filter the real and tell stories without altogether collapsing into the entirely fictitious and imaginary

Gould completed an MA in Fine Art, at Central Saint Martin’s in 2005 and a BA (Hons) Fine Art at UWIC, Cardiff in 2002. She has exhibited extensively in the UK and recently in Europe including shows at the Cornerhouse, Manchester and The Shaman Project II, Bilbao
