about LOCWS INTERNATIONAL

Locws International was set up by artists David Hastie and Tim Davies in 1999 to collaborate with Welsh and international contemporary visual artists to create new site-specific artworks for accessible and public spaces outside traditional gallery contexts across the City of Swansea

The organisation staged its first event in 2000 to celebrate the Year of the Artist and following its success went on to stage Locws 2 in 2002. The two events saw collaborations between Locws International and the artists within the city and the production of over 30 temporary artworks by 27 artists, from the United Kingdom and abroad, presented in 15 different venues and outdoor spaces across the city

The events generated a new sense of focus and energy for the visual arts, extending the diversity of work shown in Wales and were widely celebrated for their dynamic vision as a unique and innovative experience of the visual arts

Locws International appointed Grace Davies as Project Manager for Locws 3
