As part of the “Swansea Icons” project we visited Manselton Primary school to run a one day workshop developing ideas for murals about Swansea. All the pupils were excited to have an art class, and were very keen to make artwork about their home and what they love about it. Our Outreach Coordinator Erin started the workshop by talking about Locws International and the design process that Artists’ use to develop ideas for murals. Each student created a mind-map about Swansea, thinking about Icons and Symbols that could be used to describe Swansea. These ideas were they applied to create individual murals that highlighted the parts of Swansea that are most important to them.
